Research Interests

Research interests and directions: CVD/PVD thin films, diamond thin film growth and characterisation, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, semiconductor power devices, microfluidic structures and nanodevices, biosensors, antibacterial/antifouling surface modification, and application of diamond as an ultimate semiconductor material in air-space-ground integrated environments.

1.1 Postdoctoral Recruitment Requirements:

a) Hold a PhD or be near completion in semiconductor materials and devices, CVD/PVD thin film technology, electrochemical characterisation, nanofabrication, sensors, microbiology, or related fields; b) Published SCI papers as first author; c) Strong academic integrity, scientific rigour, independent research capability, and team collaboration skills; d) Proficient in English reading and writing.

1.2 Postdoctoral Benefits:

2.1 Research Assistant Recruitment Requirements:

a) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physics, semiconductor materials and devices, microelectronics, or related engineering disciplines; experience with material growth, device fabrication, and characterisation equipment preferred; b) Strong communication, hands-on, and execution skills; team spirit; equipment management experience preferred; c) Basic English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

Academic Service

Distinguished Professor at Fudan University; Director of Shanghai Intelligent Electronic Devices and Systems Innovation Platform Laboratory; Fellow of IOP (UK) and IOM3 (UK); Honorary Professor at the University of Leicester (UK). Received B.Eng. from Xi’an Jiaotong University, M.Eng. from Nanyang Technological University, and PhD from University College London. Formerly Chair Professor, Head of Postgraduate Studies in the School of Engineering, Head of Research Office, and EU Programme Director for Science and Engineering at the University of Leicester. Research focuses on the synthesis, functionalisation, and industrial applications of diamond semiconductor materials. Principal investigator of over 20 projects funded by EPSRC (UK), UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, EU Framework Programme 7, EU H2020, EU Horizon Europe, Royal Society (UK), and Royal Academy of Engineering (UK). Co-founding Editor-in-Chief of Functional Diamond (Impact Factor 4.0, 2025); Editorial Board Member of Diamond & Abrasives Engineering and Surface Technology. Invited peer reviewer for national funding agencies of the EU, UK, South Africa, Israel, Singapore, and Kazakhstan; panel member for EPSRC and UK Future Leaders Fellowships. Published over 100 high-impact journal papers, one book chapter, and one patent. Invited to deliver keynote/plenary talks at the UK Space Festival (2022) and the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition (2023).
